Assessment is paramount in defining treatment objectives. The Triangle of Wound Assessment is a holistic framework that allows practitioners to assess and manage all areas of the wound, including the periwound skin.

Prepare

Prepare

Treat

Portfolio of dressings to manage a wound of any depth and stage of healing.

Prepare

Why is effective wound preparation so important?

Wound cleansing should be seen as an integral part of wound bed preparation to optimise the wound environment by removing debris, reducing bacterial load and preventing biofilm activity.

How will wound preparation support wound healing?

  • Reduced risk of infection by removing physical barriers.
  • Improved healing outcomes, by creating an optimum healing environment, allowing for epithelial cell migration
  • Improved pain levels associated with maceration and breakdown of devitalised tissue.
  • Improved Quality of Life for patient, and reduced time spent with a wound.

Can wound preparation help us assess?

Effective preparation of the wound bed, wound edge and periwound skin facilitates wound assessment, helps create an optimum wound healing environment, reduces the risk of wound infection and biofilm formation and improves outcomes.

  • Removal of non viable tissue, debris and bioburden
  • Facilitates optimum healing environment & enables clearer assessment
  • Clear assessment helps lead us to simplified management goals and optimal healing

What are the common challenges overcome by wound preparation
  • Necrosis/slough/devitalised tissue
  • Biofilms
  • Foreign bodies
  • Skin scales
  • Hyperkertosis
  • Callous

The benefits of Alprep® Pad

Our research tells us that clinicians currently experience key challenges with existing wound cleansing and wound debridement products such as limited functionality, low absorption and lack of usage control.

This is why Coloplast created Alprep® Pad a two-in-one cleansing and debridement tool that is designed for improved absorption and ease of use.

Two tools in one

The open structure of the dark grey foam is for loosening. The light grey softer foam is for absorbing and capturing.

Designed for improved absorption

Unique slits design increases the absorption and captures loosened slough, non-viable tissue and biofilms.

Easy and convenient to use

The special triangular shape makes for comfortable handling. The packaging can also be used to wet and hold the pad.

How to cleanse and debride a wound with Alprep Pad

You can use both sides of Alprep Pad - it is two tools in one.

The dark grey foam is for loosening and the light grey foam is for absorbing and capturing. Loosen first or absorb first, depending on the wound.

Alprep Pad has been specially designed to be easy to use and control, giving you the flexibility to reach areas in the wound where debridement is needed.
