Validated tools support clinical assessment to provide objective measures as well as tracking progress over time. This article reviews the tools available to assess neurogenic bladder and bowel dysfunction in people with spinal cord injury and provides a recommendation on tools that should be used in practice.

Many treatments exist but they may be poorly utilised without a clear treatment pathway. This article highlights the financial impact of constipation and introduces a treatment pyramid to guide treatment options and service pathways.
