We're excited to be running two symposium sessions at EWMA - dates, timings and overview are detailed below.

Coloplast Symposium
Date: Wednesday, 1 May, 16:00 - 17:00 BST
Not all silicone foams are the same - new insights supporting Biatain® Silicone with 3DFit™ Technology.
At Coloplast our vision is to set the global standard for listening and responding and to that aim we wish to present our new body of clinical evidence to support Biatain Silicone with 3DFit Technology.
We have listened to the requirement of healthcare professionals, purchasers and procurement and are responding with the publication of the results of recent in-vitro analysis, observational study and Randomised Control Trial (RCT) data supporting 3DFit Technology.

Coloplast Symposium
Date: Thursday, 2 May, 13:00 - 14:00 BST
Enabling effective wound care education for non-specialists - introducing the Coloplast Wound Type Specific Pathways
Coloplast continue to work with Wound Care experts to address the global challenges facing clinicians today; Lack of wound care education for non-specialists, inconsistency of care leading to variation in treatment.
As a response to these challenges the Wound Care Pathway was developed in collaboration with more than 2200 healthcare professionals from around the world.
As the next step in this journey, Coloplast has developed Wound Type Specific Pathways (WTSP) for five specific wound types, an evidence based step-by-step guide developed by clinicians for clinicians.
At the symposium we will give you an introduction to the development of the WTSPs and how they can be used in your practice.

The Coloplast 3 Step Approach
The Coloplast 3 Step Approach provides a strong framework to support clinicians managing wounds:
- A step-by-step framework to effectively Assess, Prepare and Treat wounds.
- Designed by clinicians for clinicians.
- Can be simply implemented into practice through practical pathways and product selection guides.

Alprep® Pad
Alprep® Pad is a two-in-one cleansing and debridement tool, rated by clinicians as effective and convenient to use.
It is suitable for a wide variety of wounds including non-infected wounds, infected wounds or wounds with suspected biofilm. Use Alprep Pad to cleanse and debride the wound, wound edge and periwound skin by gently wiping the surface of the wound.
Alprep® Pad is currently only available in the UK and Australia. Availability in other global geographies is dependent on local regulatory approval.

Biatain® Silicone
With conventional foam dressings a Gap can form between the wound bed and the dressing. Gaps allow for exudate pooling which can affect all 3 areas of the wound.
The gap allows for exudate pooling which starts a series of events. Pools of exudate may promote bacterial growth, which may lead to the risk of infection. If exudate leaks on to the wound edge and periwound skin it will become macerated and delay wound healing.

Biatain Silicone Ag
The majority of infected wounds are highly exuding, creating a favourable environment for biofilms.
Conventional foam dressings leave a gap between the wound bed and dressing, allowing exudate to pool. This may promote bacterial growth leading to increased risk of infection and subsequent development of biofilms.
Biatain Silicone Ag is a conforming dressing with 3DFit Technology that fills the gap and reduces exudate pooling to promote optimal healing conditions. Biatain Silicone Ag has been shown to kill 99.99% of mature biofilms (P. aeruginosa) and to prevent biofilm formation (shown in vitro).

The Coloplast 3 Step Approach - Simplifying Wound Healing
This preliminary report reviews the first 60 patients of an ongoing 200 patient clinical evaluation, which presents the effectiveness of using the framework with appropriate wound care products from Coloplast. Alprep® Pad was used to support wound preparation and a simplified portfolio of Coloplast dressings including Biatain® dressings with 3DFit Technology to provide the treatment options on the framework.
